Sunshine Energy Private Limited, under Sunshine–Peak Power JV, successfully completed the 85 kWp Thatichaur-B Solar Mini-Grid System at Kushe Rural Municipality, Ward No. 8, Jajarkot District, Karnali Province, Nepal. The project was developed to provide reliable off-grid electricity access to households in a remote rural area through solar power generation, battery storage, inverter systems, distribution lines, and prepaid energy metering.
Key Details
- The project includes 85.25 kWp total PV module capacity, 384 kWh battery capacity, 36 kVA off-grid battery inverter capacity, and 70 kWp three-phase grid-tie PV inverter capacity. The system also includes 325 installed poles, 45.052 km of cables, and 294 household connections with prepaid energy meters. The project start date was 4 February 2024 and the completion date was 5 December 2024.
Challenges
- •The project was implemented in a remote hilly area of Karnali Province, where transportation, site access, distribution line construction, and installation logistics were challenging. The work required proper coordination for solar panel installation, power house setup, battery and inverter installation, pole erection, cable laying, household connections, and safety compliance.
Solutions
- •Sunshine Energy Private Limited completed the project through systematic site execution, technical supervision, and coordinated field implementation. Solar panels, battery banks, inverter systems, combiner boxes, earthing, distribution lines, smart/prepaid meters, power house components, and solar streetlights were installed and commissioned to provide reliable electricity service to the community.
